Missions and Activities

The Bioinformatics platform analyses data from new-generation sequencing (Illumina and Nanopore).
It is part of the Bio-Environment platform. Within the building, a 50 m² open space that can accommodate around ten people enables bioinformatics workgroups to be set up within the university. It also provides bioinformatics training in the form of workshops for interested staff (students, doctoral students, post-doctoral students, researchers, external users, etc.).

Bioinformatics analyses mainly include :
  • transcriptomic studies (RNASeq)
  • DNA/protein interaction analysis (ChipSeq)
  • genomic analyses to detect polymorphisms (SNP calling).
  • analysis of long reads to detect structural variations and de novo genome assembly
The stages of analysis
1)Involvement from the outset of NGS projects, before data production
2) Retrieving sequencing data
3) Data analysis by the platform
4) Feedback of results to teams

Equipments

The platform is equipped with a 33-node computing cluster.

Memory
- 30 nodes with 12 CPUs each and 50 GB RAM/node
- 2 nodes with 12 CPUs and 150 GB RAM
- 1 node with 24 CPUS and 500 GB RAM

Storage
- 250 GB on each node, locally.
- 36 To share mounts on /home

A total of 420 cores are available, with 45TB of storage space and 1.8T of RAM.
